Returnees Anonymous: not anymore
Our Saturday night get together was something we all had felt nervous about. Did the fact that we have all spent significant periods of time abroad mean we actually had anything in common? Would we be able to find it? And what if we did?
One glass of wine into the evening, we had all forgotten about our initial worries and focused on enjoying the company instead.
Sometimes, like most of us, I worry about coming back to Bulgaria. I keep asking myself why. And then, why not? Things like our first Returnee Anonymous night out, however, remind me that one's happiness with the place they live is really a matter of attitude. Bulgaria is what we make of it. And, as far as I am concerned, having made the friends I met this past Saturday, I know I feel even more confident that this is where I need to be.

Аз съм първа жичка за водичка за суши дори и на луната да е... та, 13ти януари? :) а ако за Нова Година нямате планове, с едни приятелки май ще правим купон тъй че сте welcome, както вече споменах на някои. (Ще има и други придошли от Щатите, те за по-кратко, ама може да ги brainwash-нем да останат :) )

Завиждам ви с най-добри чувства :) На някоя от следващите срещи вече ще присъствам като трайно завърнала се!! А за въпросите, Петя, и аз си ги задавам същите и още ме е малко страх. Но това, което видях ми помага :)
Добре де...кажете, като сме подхванали темата, от какво толкова ви е страх? Защото аз като се замислих, нищо чак толкова страшно и uniquely Bulgarian не ми хрумна...
Петяяяя, теб пък изобщо ли не те беше страх??? То не е страх в този смисъл - да се гушиш в ъгъла и да крещиш, ами в другия, повече като чуденка мога да го определя. Нали знаеш, че когато си на кръстопът винаги изниква въпросът: "аз правилното решение ли вземам???" От друга страна ми е ясно, че няма онова "завинаги", което би ме ограничило, но все пак ме пристяга гърлото. И за да не те наспамвам ще взема да го прехвърля направо като тема при мен :) Че като се знам какво чудо съм - като нищо съм изписала цял ферман тук.

So very true! It took me 27 years to reach that conclusion, but I'm glad I did :-)

I am not sure what you mean by 'good ratio'...it was a very good ratio between people who did and people who did not know each other prior to that night. Also, although US residents were the majority, they did not overwhelm the party. We had very strong ex-Japanese representation. ;) And, yes, in this particular picture, the Professor is behind the camera. There are two other pictures of the two of us from that evening. In one we are both showing off our wine-purple teeth and no way in hell am I posting that here...Don't worry, though. There will be many pictures of the two of us here in the next few weeks. ;)
