Returnees Anonymous

What started as an innocent exchange of post-comments, has grown into something much bigger than that.

If you are a Bulgarian who's recently returned to the motherland after spending a significant amount of time abroad, please feel invited to:

RETURNEES ANONYMOUS
where: OPERA, Sofia
when: 8 PM, December 16, 2006, Saturday
RSVP

Kris, Denny, Nicki, and Sasho will be there.
Special guest: prof. Grady.

Many people have asked about the point of the entire enterprise, what's the purpose of the gathering. I am happy to report there's no agenda nor business goal behind it. The really simple and uneventful truth is that Kris and I got together last week, had a wonderful time talking about the ups and downs of our returns and thought that others like us would enjoy that too. That's all.

Please come.

...and let's not forget good ole networking too.
Not to put ideas into your head, but this issue is worth writing about in "edno" online or on paper. I believe it has been shown on TV ("Другата България" had a segment on returnees), but has never been discussed in written form. I hope you find some time for investigative reporting at the event.
have fun!

And how come I have not been invited? It is true that I do not qualify as "recently returned to the motherland", but I have returned and I still have trouble with Bulgrian spelling...do I qualify to participate as well? I could be an honorary guest? i promise, I will throw in only a couple of foreign words in the conversation :)

Oh, never mind...I just read the "exchange of post-comments". I do not need to be an honorary guest any more...I can just join in :)

Concerned:

I think you would be surprised how much people actually talk about those who come back and those who don't. In fact, it's discussed so much that such discussions have little to no effect on anyone.

The only reason why I've decided to blog about my experience returning home is because I know that there are many Bulgarians out there who are considering coming back but just can't really decide how risky it is and how big of a risk they are actually willing to take. I know how much I appreciated knowing people in a similar position...

I wanna come! Well, except for the whole not-being-Bulgarian and living-in-Korea....

OK, I know I am just saying the same thing over and over, but now that it has really been decided upon, I am really excited by the idea! See you all on Saturday. As I mentioned in an earlier comment, I will bring Ani. And, DB, yes, you should definitely be there as a veteran returnee. :) See ya!

ATTENTION!

change of plans.

apparently we're in the peak of the corporate parties season, so i couldn't make reservations in opera. motto was full, too. so i called Palette. it's the newest bar/cafe of their chain and it's on 34 Alabin str., across from Sudebnata Palata :))))

see you tomorrow at 8PM there! i hope everyone concerned reads this.
