хихи, мерсиии.

забележете стайлинга на престилката на пенда: калъфка за възглавница, личен архив на стилиста.

I told Kyle (on his blooger site) that I LOVE this picture and, for inexplicable reasons, it make me hear "If I Were A Rich Man" (from "Fiddler On the Roof") in my head.

Y'all are SO cute!

Sorry about the impending rivalry with my move to Rhodes, but I hope that you and Kyle take it as an opportunity to come and visit Memphis!

Are yours similar to ours? Do you have the two little persons or do you do other things?

This brings back fond memories of hanging my own пижо и пенда on a tree at Sewanee. It's nice to be half-way across the world and still have a connection to this tradition! :)

Brooke! Ask around and find some Bulgarians at Indiana. They will definitely be able to provide with a мартеница!!!

We have various little trinkets (made of ceramic, plastic, textile, wood or metal) attached to the red&white thread. Most of these figures have come to represent potence amulets, good luck talismans, or health charms. You can transform almost any small object into a 'martzishor' as long as it has the red&white thread. There was a trend some 5-6 years ago to give 'potentzei' and 'impotentzei' as trinkets, which were small cartoon-like figures with huge noses, some of them 'potent' and some of them 'impotent'. Men bought these for women on the 1st of March, and all of them wanted to offer their loved ones the 'potent' little figures, but when these sold out, they settled for the 'impotent' ones as well :) However, the most common symbols of good luck attached to this special thread are fairly international in nature, namely the four-leaved clover, and the chimney sweeper.
