Good things recently
2. Getting an awesome response to Openly Feminist! Blogging in Bulgarian will be harder...a lot more people leave comments...Not that I'm complaining.
3. Meeting all the Amica bloggers in person.
4. Watching BBC documentaries about the Roman Empire in preparation for our trip to Italy in a couple of weeks. We are dorks and we're proud.
5. XOXO, Gossip Girl

I've been following your blog for a couple of months (since I moved from the U.S. to Italy and ran a Google search to see what other people miss about the U.S. because I was so homesick) and I love reading what you're writing about. Have a great trip to Italy — from one dork to another, it's a wonderful place with lots of geeky things to see and do.
Did she just call you a "dork"?
-T:Thanks for saying hi. Where in Italy are you? And...actually...what do YOU miss about the United States?
Dr. J: I think she did. But that's ok. We call ourselves dorks that all the time. ;) P.S. You should learn Bulgarian so you can help me out in my other blog. Anyway I could interest you in guest-blogging? I would be happy to translate...
One gret thing that happened today. I did not receive a rejection letter...not yet. It is a good day!
yeah, I don't think I'm going to be able to squeeze in a new language right now. I might be able to guest blog for you, but I'm not really inclined to do so since it appears that you are spending more time on the other blog than this one.
Come back to your loyal readers!
I live in Asolo — north of Venice at the feet of the Dolomites. I didn't call you a dork in any aim to offend — I did but only because you did in your last post in point #4 — no offense meant, truly.
Things I miss most:
1) The casual attitude of the western U.S., where you can wear whatever clothing you want anywhere without being judged. I long for the days when I could pick u a gallon of milk after a run and not feel distinctly out of place. 2) I know this is odd, but I will not use a blow dryer on my hair, which is very long and very thick, but I know it is truly against tacit Italian culture to leave my apartment with wet hair. This is a daily fight between my inclination to not waste energy for what is a natural process (normal air + ample time = dry hair) and a desire to not be stared at. It's rough. 3) Real peanut butter. I love it and it's not available. Don't know why.
4) Newspapers. Obviously, I understand that I moved to a foreign country, where my daily dose of newsprint would be in Italian and about Italian politics, but I still have pangs of longing for U.S. political coverage from smaller newspapers without Web sites, especially now in the heat of the primaries in the U.S.
That's really it. I'm embracing the Italian way of life, which I will adopt for the next couple of years, and I'm enjoying this time. Thanks for the question, Petya!
Congrats on the success of your Openly Feminist blog!!!
